 William H. Todd 2d
William Henry Todd was born on December 18, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, to Dorothy Driggs Barker and James Herbert Todd. He was graduated Rye Country Day School and Lawrenceville School and attended Williams College before graduating Northwestern University. In Rye his family lived on Club Road.
He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Todd, founder of the Todd Shipyards Corporation. During WWII, Todd Shipyards was at one point the largest private shipbuilding company in the United States, building and repairing cargo ships, tankers, destroyers, and submarines. At its peak during the war, the company employed approximately 17,000 to 33,000 workers depending on the yard location.
William served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Rye Men Commissioned Ensigns
Three Rye men were commissioned ensigns in the United States Naval Reserve when they graduated recently from the Naval Reserve Midshipmens School at Abbott Hall, Northwestern University, Chicago, 111. The graduates, who will now be assigned to duty with the fleet as deck officers, are; William H. Todd, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Todd, Club Road; John L. Bramkamp, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. J, K. Aimer, 22 Sussex Gardens; James Hedges, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hedge, Summit Avenue.

He married June Hollingshead on January 20, 1945, in New York City, New York. The Rev. George Hollingshead. cousin of the bride, and the Rev. Dr.
Ralph Sockman officiated at the candlelight service at Christ Church, Manhattan. They had three children during their marriage.
Mr. Todd was a managing director of White Oak Capital Management in Manhattan. He previously had been an investment banker with Kuhn, Loeb & Company and with Mackay Shields Financial Corporation. He was a former director of the Todd Shipyards Corporation in Brooklyn, which was founded by his grandfather, William H. Todd.
During his career the younger Mr. Todd served as a governor of the Securities Industry Association and as president of the Bond Club of New York. He also served as a trustee of the Arthritis Foundation in Atlanta and was an officer of its chapter in New York.
William H. Todd 2d, 70, an investment adviser who lived in Rye, N.Y., died December 21, 1993, at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Conn. He was 70. The cause was cancer, said Martha Todd, a daughter-in-law.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, June Todd of Rye; two sons, William H. 3d, of Greenwich, and Peter D., of Rowayton, Conn., and a daughter, Judith H. Todd of Cos Cob, Conn.
