William Henry Larkin

William Henry Larkin was born October 31, 1923 to William H and Mary Boone Larkin. He had four brothers, Patrick, John, Peter and James and three sisters; Anne, Mary and Ellen.

In Rye his family lived at 26 Nursery Lane and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. William attended Rye schools and was a graduate of Rye High School.



William enlisted February 19, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served three years in the European Theatre as a paratrooper.

He was wounded in action on January 4, 1945 in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge.

William was awarded the Purple Heart and also the Combat Infantryman Badge and his outfit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for bravery.




After the war, he returned to Rye and started work at the R. B. & W. Bolt and Nut factory in Port Chester.

He married Margaret Meloni on June 19 1948 at the Church of Our Lady of Mercy in Port Chester.

The couple would make their home in Port Chester.

William Henry Larkin died April 24, 1992
