EARLY LIFE
Domenico Franzi was born on May 25, 1894, in Albareto, Parma, Italy, the son of Andrea Franzi.
Like many Italian immigrants of his generation, he came to the United States seeking economic opportunity and improved living conditions.
He arrived in the United States on January 2, 1912, and later settled in Rye, New York, working in the Rye Beach area.
WORLD WAR I SERVICE
Franzi was inducted into the United States Army on May 26, 1918, at Port Chester, New York.
He served in Company F, 61st Pioneer Infantry, supporting engineering and labor operations for the American Expeditionary Forces.
His record indicates no wounds received in action, and he served through the war period. He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1919.
