GEORGE SLATER
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection for George Slater, 50, of 626 Milton Road, who died Saturday at United Hospital. Interment was in Greenwood Union Cemetery. A laborer employed by the Rye Public Works Department, he was born in Port Chester on August 26, 1928, son of Irene Byrnes Slater of Rye and the late George Slater. A graduate of Port Chester High School, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Rye Fire Department, and a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara June Slater of the home address; a son, Brian and a daughter, Lisa, both of the home address; five brothers, Robert, Vincent, James and Harold of Rye, and Michael of Greenwich; two sisters. Mrs. Joseph Ladore of Rye, and Mrs. Edward June of Greenwich.
