Peter Weatherill was born in East Twickenham, Middlesex, England on May 1, 1923 to Charles Weatherill and Minnie Hester Weatherill. Peter attended the Riverdale Country School in Bronx, NY. He had one sister, Valerie, and in Rye his family lived at 12 Shore Road, Greenhaven.

In 1942 Peter was working in New York City for the British Purchasing Commission.

The British Purchasing Commission (BPC) was a crucial UK organization during World War II, established in 1939 in the U.S. to coordinate buying war supplies like aircraft and munitions from North American manufacturers, bypassing Neutrality Acts with gold reserves and stimulating US production.

Peter would soon leave his job and enlist in the Royal Air Force and served in England and India during World War II.

The Royal Air Force (RAF) in World War II played crucial roles in defending Britain (especially during the Battle of Britain in 1940), conducting strategic bombing campaigns against Germany, and protecting sea lanes with Coastal Command, growing from ~2,000 aircraft to over 9,000 by war’s end, involving massive expansion, new technologies (radar), and high casualties, particularly in Bomber Command, but ensuring Britain’s survival and contributing significantly to Allied victory.

After the war, he became as salesman for Bernard Weatherill Corporation, custom tailors in New York City, owned by his father. He was also interning under his father and he would become vice president of the company. By 1957 he was married to Helene Parker, she was a law librarian. The couple had been living in Weston, CT for three years.

Peter C. H. Weatherill, 35, of Glory road, vice president of the Bernard Weatherill Corporation, died Sunday March 1, 1959 in Norwalk hospital where he was admitted Saturday evening.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Parker Weatherill; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles N. Weatherill of New York city; a sister, Mrs. Thomas A. Byrne, also of New York city..

Services were conducted in the Charles H.
Lewis funeral home in Westport, by the Rev. Robert Greene, pastor of the Norfield Congregational church, Weston. Burial will be private.
