Vincent Merle Bann and his twin brother Paul James were born on April 13, 1926, in Brookline, Massachusetts, to Maude Ellen (Kelly) Bann and James J. Bann. He had two brothers John and Paul. In Rye his family lived on Upper Dogwood Lane.
Vincent attended Resurrection School, Rye and was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He trained to be an armorer gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. Vincent rose to the rank of Sergeant and served in the US Army Air Corps in World War II and Korea

After his service he trained to be a baseball umpire and spent years calling balls and strikes in the Appalachian League and other minor leagues.
Vincent Merle Bann died on December 29, 1997, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, at the age of 71.
He was buried in High Point Cemetery, Hampton, New Hampshire.
