Patrick Alexander Vans Evers

Patrick Alexander Vans Evers was born on November 11, 1910, in New York, New York, to Violet Eleanor (Nell) Vans Agnew, age 38, and Cecil Louis Calvert Evers, age 44. He had three brothers and two sisters. Patrick attended South Kent School and the Royal Service College, Chettenham, England. In Rye he lived with his brother Arthur and his family on Highland Park.

Patrick enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was attached to the 5th Coast Artillery at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, N. Y. He was a technical sergeant in charge of a mine laying group in New York Harbor opposite Fort Wadsworth.

He married Pamela Rolston of Vancouver,
B. C. on October 21,1943 at the Church of
St. Nicholas, Fifth Avenue, New York.
The bride was the daughter of Col. and Mrs.
John Mitchell Rolston of the Canadian
Army

Patrick received a citation for his work in the service and is listed on the monument at Rye City Hall. Later he was transferred to South Florida, where he left the service. He lived in the Tampa area for 20 years.

Patrick Alexander Vans Evers died on July 25, 1967, in Hillsborough, Florida, at the age of 56, and was buried in Pensacola, Florida.

He was accorded full military honors at the funeral service at Fort Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola. Fla. The flag covering his casket was given to another brother, Major Cecil C. Vans Evers of Tampa. Sgt. Evers had many friends and acquaintances in this area.

At the time of his death, he was survived by a brother. Ma. C. Calvert Vans Evers (USAF Ret.), Tampa; a half-brother, Arthur Robert Evers, Rye, N.Y., and two half-sisters, Miss Dorothy C. Evers, Tampa, and Mrs. Rosemary C. E. Bustanoby, Beverly, New Jersey.
