George G. Atwell

George Atwell was born on January 27, 1906, in Mount Vernon, New York, his father, George, was 35 and his mother, Abigail, was 26.

He attended Mount Vernon public schools and was graduated from the Dean Academy in Franklin, Mass.

George married Catherine Elizabeth Baker on September 22, 1931, in his hometown. They had three children during their marriage.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was employed in the sales department of the Voorhis – Tiebout Co.. in Red Hook, George was a communicant of St. Sylvia’s Church, Tivoli.

George Atwell died on September 14, 1967, in Hudson, New York, at the age of 61, and was buried in Tivoli, New York

He was survived by his wife, the former Kathleen Baker; two sons, George Jr., Germantown; and James B. Atwell. Red Hook; a daughter, Mrs. William (Anna) Keyser, Claverack; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Gertrude) Warren, Jupiter, Fla.; and several nieces and – nephews.
