Thomas Michael Heney was born on August 7, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, to Mary Ann Cusack, age 29, and Bernard (Bennie) Heaney, age 26. Thomas enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had one son with Jacqueline Helen Burgess. He died on December 5, 2006, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 80, and was buried there.
