Description

Charles Tyler Kniffin was born on October 2, 1899, in Rye, New York, to Elizabeth Morris “Lizzie” Tyler, age 38, and Charles Henry Kniffin, age 53. He had four brothers and two sisters and in Rye his family lived at 34 Locust Ave.

Charles was a descendant
of one of the original Rye settlers
who came to Rye from the New
Haven Colony in 1661. He worked locally for many years as a caddy including winters caddying at Hollywood Country Club in Florida.

Charles enlisted and served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Charles Tyler Kniffin died on October 6, 1971, at the age of 72, and was buried in Long Island National Cemetery, New York.
