Anthony J. Wells

Anthony J. Wells was born at United Hospital on Oct. 11, 1923. his father, Joseph, was 24 and his mother, Rose, was 22. He had one brother Frank. In Rye his family lived at 360 Midland Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Anthony was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941.

In high school he was a member of the GO, a junior coach and played basketball and baseball. before the war, Anthony was working for the Homelite Corp. in Port Cester, NY. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Anthony enlisted in the Army in January 1944. He had his basic training at Ft. Devons. He was a Technical 4th Grade Sgt. in the Amphibious Intelligence Corps. Anthony was severly injured in amphibious training landing at Camp Edwards, FL. He was discharged from Walter Reed Hospital on May 4, 1945.

Anthony married Pamela Janet Eldredge on September 20, 1947, in his hometown, when he was 23 years old. They had four children during their marriage.

After the war he spent 31 years with Insurance Co. of North America, first in White Plains and in 1958 transferred to Jacksonville, FL office. He retired in 1985 amd moved to FT. Pierce, FL.

He died on October 11, 2016, at the age of 93.

Devons. He was a Technical 4th Grade Sgt. In the Amphibious Intelligence Corps. Severly injured in amphibious training landing at Camp Edwards, FL.
