He died on January 23, 1985, in Dade City, Florida, at the age of 70. In Rye his family lived at 199 Purchase St.. Bruce was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1933. He enlisted in U.S. Army during World War II.

HE SERVED IN GENERAL PATTONS TANK CORPS. TRAINED IN U. S. AND ENGLAND. LANDED D-DAY +3 IN NORMANDY AND FOUGHT THROUGH EUROPE, INCLUDING THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. RECEIVED 2 PURPLE HEARTS, SILVER STAR GALLANTRY IN ACTION AND CROIX DE GUERRE PERSONALLY FROM GENERAL CHARLES DE GAULLE .
