Harold A. Cook

Harold A. Cook was born in Port Chester, New York on December 27, 1922 to Harold and Anna Cook. He had one brother Gerard. In Rye his family lived at 461 Midland Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Harold attended Resurrection Elementary School and was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1942.

In high school he ran track, played footbal was a memeber of the boxing club and had various other interests. Before enlisting Harold was working at Playland in Rye.

He was a WWII veteran having served as a Seaman 1st Class in the United States Coast Guard. He married Marjorie O'Rourke on December 14, 1945.

Harold worked for the City of Rye as the Parks and Trees Supervisor before retiring after 39 years of service. He was an avid football fan, and during his lifetime played for and later devoted time and support to the Rye High School football program. He was also a devoted member of the Church of the Resurrection.

Harold Cook Jr., a lifelong resident of Rye, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2014 at the age of 91 with his family by his side.

He was predeceased by Marjorie, his loving and devoted wife of 64 years in 2010, and his only brother, Gerard in 2011.

Harold was survived by his two children: Pamela Jacobs of Rye, NY, and Harold Patrick Cook of Mt. Pleasant, MI; his grandson Sean P. Jacobs and wife Anne B. Jacobs of Norwalk, CT; and his four great grandchildren: Luke, Zachary, Marjorie, and Charlotte.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.
