Joseph Gerard Bugniazet was born on August 10, 1908, in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, his father, Gustave, was 29 and his mother, Mary, was 25. He had two brothers Edward and Louis. He died in August 1981 at the age of 73. In Rye his family lived at 4 Horton St. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Joseph enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
