Mary Beary Allphin, of Rye, died December 26, 2001 at United Hospital in Port Chester. She was ninety-five. Mrs. Allphin worked as a School Teacher for White Plains Public Schools for twelve years before retiring.

Mrs. Allphin was born June 11, 1906 in Rye to Daniel H. and Sophia Burns Beary. She was educated in Rye and graduated from Rye High School in 1925. She graduated from Beaver College for Women and earned a Masters Degree from New York University.

Mrs. Allphin served in the Army from 1942 to 1955, attaining the rank of Major. She belonged to American Legion Post #128 in Rye.

In 1950, she married Lt. Col. Wayne Allphin in Germany. Mrs. Allphin was a life-long resident of Rye. She is predeceased by her husband Lt. Col. Wayne Allphin.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Church, Rye.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook.
