Peter C Hitt was born in New York in 1913. In Rye his family lived at 84 Highland Road and were members of Christ Church. Peter served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

HITT, PETER COOPER, of Largo died Tuesday (July 17, 1984). He was born in New York City and was an Episcopalian. He was a retired captain in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He graduated from Yale in 1935. Survivors include his wife Barbara; a son Peter C. Jr., New Orleans, and a sister Mary H. Bryon, Riverside, Conn. Hubbell Funeral Home, Belleair Bluffs Chapel.
