Francis Dewey Everett

Francis Dewey Everett was born in Milton, MA on May 17, 1923 to Francis D. and Alice Lesher Everett. He had one sister Marion and two brothers Lawrence and Oliver. In Rye his family lived on Grace Church Street and were members of Christ’s Church.

Francis enlisted and served in the American Field Service during World War II.

When World War II broke out, AFS reorganized its ambulance service, sending units first to France and then to the British Armies in North Africa, Italy, India-Burma and with the Free French for the final drive from southern France to Germany.

The young AFS drivers came from “prominent families in the States,” and had attended, or were still attending, one of almost a hundred prominent colleges or universities around the country.

Francis spent three years with with the American Field Service, 485 AFS Company: C Platoon ,in North Africa and Italy as an ambulance driver.

He married Miss Eleanor Delafield June 13, 1953, at St. John’s Church in Cold Spring Harbor.

Francis received an A.B degree from Harvard and was a graduate from the Harvard School of Business Administration.

He was associated with Morgan Stanley and Company and was a member of the Union Club and the Harvard Club, Manhattan.
