Bernard Aagesen

Bernard T Aagesen was born on October 24, 1921, in Port Chester, New York, to Nora Shannon and Bernhard Ludwig Aagesen His father Bernard was from Denmark, a WWI veteran and a policeman in Rye. His mother Nora was a Homemaker and born in Ireland. Bernard had a little sister Eleanor and the family lived at 12 Richard Place. At the time their house was valued at $11,000 and they owned a radio!. Bernard attended Rye schools and the family were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Before the war he was working at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT. On Friday March 24, 1944, Rye sent nineteen men to join the armed forces in a draft contingent from Mamaroneck-Rye Draft Board 750. Included in the group which left Mamaroneck on the 8:57 train was Bernard Aagesen, 12 Richard Place.

Bernard enlisted in March 24, 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received his honorable discharge June 15, 1946. Bernard married Mary Helena Gillette in 1965 and they would live in White Plains.

Bernard T Aagesen died in September 1993 in Garrison, New York, at the age of 71.
