Albert J. Cicchiello

Albert J. Cicchiello was born in Rye on May 7. 1918 to James and Rose Russo Cicchiello. He had three brothers, Leonard, Salvatore, and Victor and two sisters Katherine and Josephine. In Rye his family lived at 30 Elizabeth St. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

In November 1941, he married Mary Sabia in Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester. Soon after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and Albert enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He served from February 13, 1942 to December 7, 1945 in the Pacific on New Guinea and Luzon and was attached to the Fifth Army Air Force

On 4 November 1942, the Fifth Air Force commenced sustained action against the Japanese in Papua New Guinea and was a key component of the New Guinea campaign (1942–1945). Fifth Air Force engaged the Japanese again in the Philippines campaign (1944–45) as well as in the Battle of Okinawa (1945).

After the war, Albert was a construction worker with the J.N. Construction Co. in Mamaroneck, he was a member of Local 141 of the Hod Carriers Union. He and Mary had two sons and moved to Rye Brook and were parishioners of Corpus Christy Church.
