Heather Club sends Smokes to Soldiers
The Heather Club is holding a card party tonight at the Y. M. C. A. for their cigarette fund. Rye men in the service, both in this country and abroad, receive cartons of cigarettes from this women’s organization. Many thank you letters have been received, the most recent from Major Samuel J. Cole of Blind Brook Lodge, now stationed in Washington, D. C, with the Adjutant Generals Department. It is thank you to each and every one from the members of our Army stationed in Washington, and the writer for the carton of cigarettes sent to the latter. The enlisted personnel do have a struggle to get by in the vicinity having to meet civilian competition at current prices. You are to be commended for keeping in touch with the uniformed men and women from Rye; particularly since the initial enthusiasm to do things is eighteen months past.
