Description

Joseph F. DeCarlo was born on January 9th, 1934. He was born in Brooklyn, and his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Angelo F. DeCarlo. He had two brothers, Anthony DeCarlo and Peter DeCarlo, one who was born in Brooklyn (Anthony), and one who was born in Venice (Peter). He also had two sisters, Virginia and Millie, both of whom were also born in Brooklyn. He was Catholic, and would attend Resurrection Church every weekend with his family. He lived in Galen House on Grace Church Street in Rye, Ny, and was taught how to sew at a young age from his mother, which later proved useful in the army when he sewed on chevrons to his uniform. He graduated from Port Chester High School in New York in 1951. He did this before he enlisted in the war because it was important to his father that he received an education. Joseph F. Decarlo served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Repair Squadron 17 of the first Marine Aircraft Wing.

JOSEPH FRANK DeCARLO, Sr. a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died August 21, 2005. He was 71 and was born January 9, 1934 in Port Chester to the late Angelo and Rose Anne Santoro DeCarlo. He was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1951.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. DeCarlo was married to Sue DeCarlo, August 28, 1955 at Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester. Mrs. DeCarlo died July 21, 2000. He was a service manager for Greenwich Buick for 41 years. He also was a service Manager for Exxon in Greenwich, CT. Mr. DeCarlo was a former Traffic Commissioner for the Village of Port Chester for 7 years.

He is survived by his sons Angelo DeCarlo and his wife Anna Marie of Thornwood, NY, and Joseph DeCarlo, Jr., and his wife Kathy of Port Chester, NY; a daughter, Rose Anne DeCarlo Jezior and her husband John of Trumbull, CT; sister, Anna Marie Giordano of Port Chester, NY. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony DeCarlo. Visitation will be 5-9 PM today, Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc., 40 Leicester St., Port Chester, NY. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY.
