Nicholas J. DeFilippo

Nicholas J. DeFilippo was born on August 6, 1918 in Rye, NY to Charles and Mary (Frederico) DeFilippo. He had one sister Mary. In Rye his family lived at 33 High Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Nicholas went to Rye High School where he excelled at sports and was a graduate of the Class of 1937. He enlisted in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Nicholas was in active service from 4/29/41 TO 9/30/45. He participated in all the major campaigns in the European Theatre of Operations: NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE, RHINELAND, ARDENNES AND CENTRAL EUROPE

Nicholas married Antoinette Clement on March 30, 1942 in Greenwich, CT and they had one daughter.

After the war, He was the owner of Tarrytown Automotive. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Triple A, Rye Golf Club and Peachtree Country Club in Yuba City. He enjoyed golf and Big Band music and was an avid sports fan.

Nicholas DeFilippo passed away November 23, 2009 in Grass Valley, CA at the age of 91.

He was survived by his wife Antoinette DeFilippo formerly of Yuba City, CA, daughter and son-in-law Patricia and David Caldwell of Nevada City, CA, granddaughter and husband Briana and Alex Ezzell of Nevada City, CA, granddaughter and husband Lauren and Micah Cone of Berkeley, CA, and sister Mary Calandrucci of White Plains, NY. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father Charles DeFilippo in 1972 and mother Mary DeFilippo in 1920.

A Mass was held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Resurrection Church in Rye, NY at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
