James W. Duncan was born in New York on July 24, 1906. He was a graduate of St. John’s University and New York University School of Law.

James was married September 24,1932 to Jessie MacKenzie Duncan and they had one daughter.

The marriage of Miss Jessie Mae MacKenzie daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archibald MacKenzie of Greenwich, to James W. Duncan of New York will take place his afternoon at four o’clock at the Rye Presbyterian Church. Reverend Carl B. Bare, minister, will officiate.

In Rye his family lived at 78 Allendale Drive. James was then a district real estate manager for Standard Oil Company.

He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. James served as a first lieutenant in the Pacific.

After the war, before acquiring the Raymond Barden Real Estate Co. in Chatham, N.Y., in 1955, he was president of the Middle East Oil Co. of Socony from 1953. He had served in Lebanon with this organization and had been a district real estate manager for 28 years.

He was a member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church, the Winding Brook Country Club and while in Rye, the Apawamis Club.

James W. Duncan of Kinderhook, N. Y., a former Rye resident, died December 7, 1965 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N. Y.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, Jessie MacKenzie Duncan; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Miller of Stanford. Calif.; his mother, Mrs. William Duncan, Kew Gardens, N. Y.J a brother, William of Valley Stream, N. Y.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Kinderhook Reformed Church, Kinderhook.
