Donald C. Farnsworth was born February 6, 1914, at Williamsville, Va., a son of Hugh Blaine and Armita (Phillips) Farnsworth.. He was raised and educated in Virginia and was a graduate of Hampton-Sydney College.

Donald married Miss Elizabeth Breeland Hevenor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glostet Parnell Hevenor, of Rye Road, in her parents home. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Thomas J. Shannon of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Ansonia. Conn. The couple would make their home at Hot Springs VA, after a wedding trip.

Donald enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served as a medic during World War II.

After the war, Donald moved back to New York with his wife to raise a family and settled in Mamaroneck and then Valhalla, NY. He was then working as a sales representative for a coal company and would retire as president of the United Eastern Coal Sales Co. in New York, N.Y.

After his retirement, Donald and Betty moved to Fallbrook, CA where they were members of the Fallbrook Golf Club and the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.

Donald Coursey Farnsworth, 86, died Nov. 13, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Hevenor) Farnsworth

At the time of his death, survivors included three children, Donald Coursey Farnsworth Jr. of Fallbrook, Carole (Farnsworth) Ryan of Belle Mead, N.J. and Pamela Farnsworth (MacMannis) of Darien, Conn.; two sisters, Rosemary Turner of Ocean City, N.J. and Madoline Ward of Ashwood, Va.; one brother, Frederick Farnsworth of Indian Lakes, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was conducted at graveside at Union Chapel Cemetery, Healing Springs, by the Rev. Bass Mitchell.

Donald Coursey Farnsworth, 86, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at his home.
Born Feb. 6, 1914, in Williamsville, Va., he lived in Fallbrook for 20 years. He worked for United Eastern Coal Sales Corp. before retiring as president in 1980.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Farnsworth was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth H. Farnsworth, on April 11, 1999. He is survived by his son, Donald C. Farnsworth Jr. of Fallbrook; daughters Carole Farnsworth Ryan of Belle Mead, N.J., and Pamela Farnsworth Mac Mannis of Darien, Conn.; brother Frederick Farnsworth of Indian Lakes, Fla.; sisters Rosemary Turney of Oceanside and Madeline Ward of Hot Springs, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert Cunningham officiating. Inurnment will take place at Union Chapel Cemetery in Hot Springs. The family suggests memorial donations to Fallbrook Hospice, 624 E. Elder St., Fallbrook, CA 92028. Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary is handling arrangements.
