George J. Graham

George J. Graham, born on 1/16/1920 to Richard and Margaret Graham. The family, including his sister Marie, brother Richard and grandparents Otto and Eva Graham all lived at 37 Redfield St. in the town of Rye, New York. The family were parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection.

George J Graham grew up in Rye and went to Rye High School, graduating in the Class of 1938. In High School he was a junior coach, and played varsity baseball and football. George also was a member of the drivers club, the fingerprinting club and the athletic club.

After graduating George would enlist into the U.S Army, where he would serve in WW2 and Korea.

After his discharge George was employed by Ward Leonard Electric Co. in Mount Vernon. A parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection, he was a member of its Dad’s Club, the Milton Engine and Hose Co., was past commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 02; and past president of the Rye Boating Association.

He was also a member of the Westchester Power Squadron and the Rye Fish and Game Club.

George J. Graham died suddenly September 21, 1970 at Mt Vernon Hospital. He was 50 years old.

At the time of his death, the World War II and Korean War veteran was survived by his wife, the former Alice Kenny; three daughters: Cecilia, Margaret and Marian, a sister, Mrs. Marie Visci of Rye; and a brother Richard, also of Rye
