Sidney “Richard Hall” was born on June 29, 1912, in Harrison, New York, to Marie Louise Cherbonnier, age 32, and Sidney Louis Hall, age 32.
He was graduated from New York Military Academy and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In Rye his family lived at 77 Grandview Ave.
He married Helen Merriam Farrelly on May 14, 1938, at the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection at Rye, the Rev. James Goggin, pastor of the church, officiating. They had four children during their marriage.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the 61st Cavalry and left active duty as a member of the Army Transportation Corps. On 9 March 1942 the Transportation Service was established as part of the Services of Supply. In March 1942, the transportation functions were consolidated into the Transportation Division of the newly created Services of Supply.
On 31 July 1942, the Transportation Service became the Transportation Corps. By the end of the war the Transportation Corps had moved more than 30 million soldiers within the continental United States; and 7 million soldiers plus 126 million tons of supplies overseas.
He retired an Army Lt. Colonel and then co-founded the Boston Mint Tea Co.
Retired Army Lt. Col. S, Richard Hall, 65, of 210 Beacon St., Back Bay, died November 27, 1976 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Col.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Helen (Farrelly); a son, Stephen F. of Alexandria, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Ridgely Lanman of Pittsfield, Maine, Mrs. Susan Liang of New Canaan, Conn,, and Evelyn G. Hall of Brookline, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Louise Flint of Ashland, Ore.
