Description

Harold William Jennys was born on June 3, 1926, in Port Chester, New York, to Mary Spotswood Norvell Jennys, age 26, and Harold William Jennys, age 36. He attended the Avon Old Farm School and the Kent School for Boys. He also received technical training in New York City in photography and drafting. In Rye his family lived at 16 Sussex Gardens.

Harold enlisted June 22, 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His service number was 9095501 and he was honorably discharged October 18, 1946. (SEE MUSTER ROLLS)

He married Lois Marjorie Hughes Jennys on March 2, 1956, in Binghamton, New York. They had three children during their marriage and would move to Delaware to raise their family.

Harold spent several years at Xerox in his earlier years. In 1968, he went from independent consultant to job shopper, working as a design engineer. His hobbies were oil painting, gardening, woodworking, target shooting and hunting. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Harold William Jennys Jr. of Dover died from internal cerebral hemorrhage Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. He suffered from the bone marrow disease, MDS. He was 76.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois H. Jennys, Oct. 23 1995; and a sister, Shirley Scifries, in 2001.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Ella E. Everett of Camden; three children, Mark W. Jennys of Baltimore, the Rev David R. Jennys of Wanatan, Ind., and Cathy L. Heagy of Narvon, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Taylor of Sequim, Wash.; five stepchildren; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, in Whatcoat United Methodist Church in Camden. The Rev. Jim Walz, pastor, officiated.
