William Jackson Naples, FL

William “Bill” Jackson, 79, formerly of Alexandria, VA, passed away on Friday, March 5 at his home in Naples, FL. Born in Westchester, NY to William and Doris Jackson, he lived in Rye, NY until heading off to college at The University of Georgia. After one year he married Suzanne Ahearn of Rye and joined the Army Air Corp before completing his degree at St. Benedict’s College in Kansas. They raised three sons, Bill Jr., Spencer, and Wayne as they traveled the world before settling in Alexandria, VA.

He served for 24 years as an Army Aviator spending time in both Korea and Vietnam. A decorated veteran, he retired in 1971 and joined Amtrak and earned his Masters of Business at American University in Washington, DC. He was a proud member of the Order of Daedalians.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Suzanne and his son Bill Jr.

He is dearly missed and survived by his wife of 32 years, Beverly; his sons Wayne and Spencer; his daughter Karon; and six grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church in Naples.

Inurnment with military honors will be held at Mount Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA at a time to be announced.

Contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of Robert W. Tallgren are welcomed.
