Burton Osborne King was born on October 7, 1923, in New York, New York, to Lucille C. Cardwell, age 31, and Howard Blish King, age 43. He was raised in Rye and graduated from Mount Heermon School, North Field, CT in June of 1942.

His father was a successful local dentist and he had two brothers. In Rye the family lived at 514 Forrest Ave and were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Burton enlisted December of 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in the US as an airplane mechanic.

While still in service, he married June Odette Ulrich on October 13, 1945. They had two children during their marriage. Burton was honorably discharged on April 28, 1946.

For a few years the couple lived in Brooklyn before moving to Norwalk, CT to raise their family. The family was long time members of the First Congregational Church on the Green.

Burton Osborne King died on September 11, 1983, in Norwalk, Connecticut, at the age of 59.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, two daughters Dawn Odette King Sturges and Cheryl Robin Hopp, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
