Charles Augustus Lane was born on August 16, 1908, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Emily Bouvé Osborn and Charles Chester Lane. He was raised in Massachusetts and for at time New Jersey. He was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard University, Class of 1931 and MIT Graduate School.
Charles married Miss Margaret Blanchard February, 11, 1940 in New York City and the couple would have one daughter. By 1943, he and his family were living on North Street in Rye, NY.
Charles enlisted January 22, 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Operations in the Philippine Liberation. His service number was 42068824 and he was honorably discharged March 17,1946.
After the war, Charles returned home to the Boston area. He would eventually become Vice President, American Sandpaper Co. and Smith Corona Typewriter Co. He was a member of Harvard Club of Boston and the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Duxbury, MA.
Charles Augustus Lane, of Duxbury, Massachusetts died June 30, 1994 at the age of 85. He was husband of the late Katherine (VanBaarle) Lane and brother of the late Andrew Lane.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his sister Constance Raymond of Stockton, CA, nieces Beverly Young. Ann C. Claycomb; nephews Dean C. Raymond and Roger V. Raymond, all of CA, sister-in-law. Eleanor D. Lane, of Antrim, N.H., nephew Andrew Lane Hoffman Estates, and niece Shirley Frost of Belmont, NH.
Graveside services and interment of ashes were to be arranged with family members. He was buried in Hingham Cemetery, Hingham, MA
