Francesco Macri
Francesco Macri was born Dec. 14, 1905, in San Vitolonio, Italy, to Vito and Maria Iezzi Macri. He emigrated from Italy when he was 17 years old. In Rye he lived at 337 Midland Avenue and was self employed.
Francesco enlisted November 27,1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He rose to the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged April 28, 1944.
For decades after the war Francesco was the proprietor of Franks Shoe Repair, which was located adjacent to Citibank on the Post Road in Rye. He attended Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck.
Francesco Macri of Mamaroneck, owner of Frank’s Shoe Repair in Rye, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at United Hospital Medical Center in Port Chester. He was 91.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Theresa Doria Macri, and several nieces. He was to be buried in Italy.
