Carl A. Marchione was born June 8, 1919, in Harrison to Antonio and Angelina Renna Marchione. He attended Harrison schools. In Rye his family lived on the Boston Post Road.
Carl enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. During World War II, he was a corporal in the 1380th Service Command Unit. He served in Algeria, French Morocco and Tunisia. He received two Bronze Battle Stars, a European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Ribbon.
Private Marchione served two and one-half years overseas with the Army engineers in both Africa and Sicily and participated in the African invasion.
He was honorably discharged and returned to this country in February 1944.
On June 10, 1945, Carl married Rose Roberto at Holy Name Church in New Rochelle.
He was the owner of Carl Marchione Landscaping in Harrison from 1944 to 1957. After, he worked for the Harrison Highway Department.
Carl was a parishioner and an usher at St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison. He was a volunteer firefighter in Harrison for 50 years and was a member of the Westchester Landscaping Association.
Carl Marchione, a World War II veteran, died Friday, June 26,1998, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 79.
At the time of his death, he was survived by a brother, Antonio of Boca Raton, Fla. His wife died in 1996. A funeral Mass was held at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery
