Daniel P. Mc Carthy was born on November 11, 1913, in Connecticut, his father, Patrick, was 30 and his mother, Mary, was 27.In Rye, the family of six lived at 41 Grapal Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. His father Patrick was born in the Irish Free State and worked as a carpenter. His mother Mary was a dietitian and his three siblings, John, Joseph and Grace were also born in Connecticut. Daniel was a graduate of Resurrection School and lona Academy.
At the age of 27, he married Anne Hughes in 1940 in Rye, New York. They had two children during their marriage.
Daniel served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.He was an officer in a Medical Unit stationed in France. Daniel’s brother and best man, First Lieutenant John G. McCarthy was a pilot killed on 8/4/1944 during the attacks in Romania.
Daniel resided in Greenwich after the war and was a member of The Quail Ridge Country Club, The Westchester Country Club, The Boca Raton Banker’s Club and The American Legion. He spent 40 years in service with United Parcel Service, retiring a Vice President of Rational Accounts in 1979.
He then moved to Florida where he was Chairman of the Shamrock Society of Boca Raton,The Boca Raton Banker’s Club and a former member of KefC,
Daniel P. McCarthy, age 7O, of 4364 Waxwing Court, Boynton Beach, FL died Sunday April 8, 1984 in a local hospital after a brief Illness.
At the time of his death he was survived by his beloved wife, Anne Hnghes; daughters, Sheila Begg of Baltimore, Md. and Maryellen McLane of Carlisle, Pa.; four grandchildren: Amy, Heather, Michael arid Meghan. Brother, Joseph and a sister, Kathleen also survive.
Funeral mass and burial was held at Sacred Heart Church In Conn.
