Robert E. Mockler was born in Brooklyn, New York January 25, 1921 son of Martin J. Mockler Jr., a WWI Veteran and Helen Terrance Mockler. The family moved to Mt Vernon, NY where he was raised and he attended A. B. Davis High School.
His mother died in 1936 when he was fifteen years old and his father died in 1942 when Robert was just twenty. He and his three brothers: Bernard M., John and Martin III moved to Rye to live with their grandfather Martin Mockler Sr. In Rye his family lived at 341 Forest Avenue and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
Robert enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Corporal Robert E.
Mockler, U. S. Army was inducted in January, 1943, and received his basic training at Tampa, Fla. Sent overseas in April, 1944, he is now in France. Corporal Mockler, who is twenty three, was born in Rye and was graduated from A.
B. Davis High School. Before his induction he was employed as an artist by Sherman Billingsley, New York City. His wife, the former Dorothy Hearst of New York, is a private in the Wac.

As of 2-7-26 we have no further information on this veteran, except that from his brother John’s Obituary from 1960 stating that he was living in South America. He is also not mentioned in his 1966 grandfathers obituary as a survivor. We might conclude he died between 1960 and 1966.
