Herman Armaur Nichols Jr

Herman Armour Nichols Jr. was born on May 30, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois, to May Lynette Craven, age 29, and was the son of Herman Armour Nichols (1894–1948). His father was Herman Armour Nichols, served in World War I. Herman Jr. was the grandson of a founding member of the prominent meatpacking company Armour and Company.

Herman graduated from Taft School and Yale University with the Class of 1944 where he was a member of the Fence Club. In Rye his family lived on Forrest Avenue.

Herman served as an officer and was a pilot with the US Navy during World War II.

Ensign Nichols was graduated from Taft School with the Class of 1944. He attended Yale University where he was a member of the Fence club. He received his commission ten days ago at Corpus Christi. Texas.

After his discharge, Herman married Nancy Hope Thompson April 30, 1945 and they had two children together. The couple would divorce in 1953. He then married Anne Stetson Crosby February 26, 1955 and they had two children together.

At the time he was a partner of Charles Roberts associates in New York. When not in NYC he was at the family estate in Woodstock, VT.

Herman Armour Nichols Jr died July 4, 1973, after a long illness in Woodstock, Vermont, at the age of 51

At the time of his death, he was survived by his mother Mrs Craven Nichols three daughters, Mrs Howard Vagner, Mrs James Marceau and Miss Anita Lucille Nichols one son Herman A Nichols III and two sisters Mrs James Emmons and Mrs Harley Higbie

He is interred in Riverside Cemetery in Woodstock.
