Description

Warren S. Olin was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 19th, 1919. Warren soon moved to 47 Elwood Ave., Rye NY, where he would attend school and live for his childhood years. Warren lived with his parents, Edward Olin and Emily Batten. Warren’s father rented the house they lived in, valued at $125 ($1,998 dollars today). Warren attended Rye High School, class of 1937.

In high school he was a member on the Executive Committee of Boys’ Union, a Junior Coach, Self-Reliant, a Ping Pong Club member, an Assistant Track Manager, a Varsity Track runner, and an Inter-Class Basketball Player.

Warren went on to graduate from Cornell University with a degree in Civil Engineering where he was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity.

He registered for the draft on October 16th, 1940 and then enlisted into the United States Military on January 6th, 1941.Warren met his wife, Martha Estopinal, while she was attending LSU, Baton Rouge, LA, and they married in 1944. They celebrated 71 years of marriage.

He retired from the US Army in 1973 after having bravely served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

He received a master’s degree from Rollins College and pursued a ten year career with the State of Florida. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Warren volunteered at Patrick Air Force Base for over 1000 hours, served on the Melbourne Beach Code Enforcement Board, and was a Keep Brevard Beautiful volunteer. He was an avid golfer and served as president of his golf association and enjoyed every opportunity he could to travel with his family. He attended for many years the Retired Military Police Association reunions.

Colonel Warren Stillman Olin (Retired), 96, passed away peacefully June 16, 2016 at home in Melbourne Beach, FL where he lived for 43 years.

At the time of his death he was survived by his daughters, Karen Olin Manno and Marti Olin; his granddaughter, Jennifer Walker Barwick and her husband Ben Barwick; great-grandchildren, May and Walker Barwick; his sister, Natalie Taylor and niece, Priscilla Creed, nephews, William and Eugene Taylor; and great-nephew, Grant Taylor. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Martha Estopinal Olin and devoted daughter, Kathleen Olin Walker.

Colonel Olin and his wife Martha were laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
