John Norman Ozman
John Norman Ozman was born May 21, 1913 in Love Point, Md., son of Luther Ozman of Arbutus, Md. and Naomi Dewey Thomas. He married Mildred O’Neil and they had three children and in Rye his family lived at Blind Brook Lodge.
John enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a private first class from 1936 to 1939, reenlisted October of the same year and was discharged in May 1941.
He had been a truck driver for the department of public works of Rye. Prior to that he was a maintenance man at Blind Brook Lodge Apartments in Rye for eight years. Before moving to Harrison, he had lived in Rye for 20 years. He was a parishioner of Church of the Resurrection, Rye.
John Norman Ozman, 53, a truck driver for the department of public works of Rye, died a at United Hospital June 7, 1966 while his wife was visiting him. He had entered the hospital May 27. The last rites of the Catholic Church were administered at the hospital by the Rev. P.
Gerrity of Our Lady Bernardo Church, Port Chester.
In addition to his wife and his father, he was survived by two sons, Charles Ozman, a Harrison High School student, and Pic. John Ozman Jr., serving with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and who had been scheduled to leave for Viet Nam tomorrow; a daughter, Mrs. Esther Olivia of Port Chester; and seven grandchildren,.
The funeral was held at the William H. Graham Funeral Home, followed by a solemn requiem mass at 11 o’clock in the Church of the Resurrection.
Interment was in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myers, Va. with full military honors.
