Description

Emil Palombo was born January 1, 1907 in Port Chester, he was the son of Angelo and Filomena Nobile Palombo. He was raised in Port Chester and attended Port Chester schools.

He married Marion Bulkey on December 17, 1929, in Rye, New York. They had one child during their marriage. In Rye his family lived at 23 School St. and he was working for the federal government at the Rye Post Office.

Emil enlisted February 29, 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged January 16, 1946.

After the war Emil returned home and was supervisor of mail at the Rye Post Office for 40 years, until his retirement in 1974.
He was a former volunteer chief of the Poningoe Fire Engine and Hose Co. in Rye. As U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rye. Emil was parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester.

After his wife, Marion Bulkley Palombo, died in 1975, Emil moved to his daughter’s Rye Brook home.

Emil Palombo, a native of Port Chester, died August 28, 1984, at United Hospital after a sudden illness. He was 77. At the time of his death, he was survived by his daughter, Marilyn Marino of Rye Brook, two brothers, Michael J. of Greenwich and Albert of Port Chester, and two sisters, Mary Kuhn of Port Chester and Terri Massi of Greenwich..
