Joseph F. Peterson
Joseph F. Peterson was born in Rye, NY, November 20, 1906 to Alfonso and Lucy Russo Peterson. He was a life-long resident of Rye and educated in the Rye public schools. He had three brothers; Alfonso, Angelo and James and two sisters Mary and Jane. In Rye the family lived at 56 Maple Ave.
Before the war he was a ‘Jack of all trades’ and worked as a self employed handyman.
Joseph enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the European and Pacific theaters and was honorably discharged in 1945.
After his release from service, Joseph was a sheet metal worker for the Hutchinson Sheet Metal Co. in White Plains. He married Isabelle Babcock in 1968. Joseph was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union local 38. and was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
Joseph F. Peterson, a lifelong Rye resident, died September 22, 1980 at United Hospital. He was 73.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Isabelle Babcock Peterson; a brother Angelo Peterson of Rome, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mary Peterson and Mrs. Alfred Lenoci, both of Rye.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Alphonse and James Peterson.
