Anthony J. Santoro was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Port Chester, N.Y., to Anthony and Angelina Cosacchi Santoro. In Rye his family lived at 21 Ellsworth Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Anthony was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1932 and from St. John’s University with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. He enlisted July 14, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Anthony received his basic training at Truax Field, Madison WI. He served as an Army staff sergeant in the Philippines. After 2 years and 5 months in service Anthony received a medical discharge in November 1944 for Acute Gastritis.

He married Lois Treon on Nov. 12, 1944, at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester.They had three children during their marriage.

Anthony worked in the Bronx for Parke-Davis-Warner-Lambert Pharmaceutical Co. for 29 years until he retired in 1979. He then worked as a pharmacist for St. Vincent’s Hospital in Rye from 1980 to 1987.

Anthony was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 128 in Rye. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection. Anthony was a member for more than 40 years and a past president of the Rye Kiwanis Club, and one of the founders of the Port Chester Kiwanis Club.

Anthony Joseph Santoro, a retired pharmaceutical sales representative and pharmacist, died Tuesday, April 25, 1995, at his home in Rye, N.Y. He was 80 years old.

At the time of his death, in addition to his wife, Mr. Santoro is survived by three sons, Anthony T. of Katy, Texas, Paul R. of Pearl River and William F. of Poughquag, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was at the Church of the Resurrection.
