Howard J. SearlesHoward J. Searles was born in New York in 1909. In Rye his family lived at 48 La Salle Avenue and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
Howard served as a lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II.
Before and after the war , Howard was a police officer for the City of Rye. He retired as a Rye police patrolman only May 1, 1960, and was the son of a former Rye police chief, the late Howard Searles.
While with the Rye department he was in charge of meters, radios, parking and traffic lights. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rye and St. Andrew’s Church in Norwood.
Howard J. Searles, 51, Norwood, N. Y., died suddenly Sunday November 12,1961 at Norwood Hospital.
He was survived by his wife, Catherine Barnes Searles, and his mother, Josephine Searles, both of Norwood.
