Robert “Bob” C. Sibley was born in New York November 27, 1925 the son of Robert C. Sibley Sr. & Gladys (Olsen) Sibley. He had one brother Douglas. In Rye his family lived at 567 Milton Road and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Bob was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943. In school he was a leader in the band and orchestra.

He enlisted January 21, 1944 and served 19 months in the U.S. Army during World War II attaining the rank of Sergeant..

After the war, Bob graduated from RPI and Northeastern University with an MS degree in electrical engineering. He was one of the foremost microwave engineers in the country his work included designing microwave tubes for use in high energy radar and has several patents to his name and designing radar for the US Navy AEGIS Cruisers.

Bob truly enjoyed being part of the Manchester community, where he was an active member of the First Parish Church, where he served as a leader on almost every committee and board, a 33rd degree member and past master of the Free Masons and past president and member of the Lions Club.

Bob was especially fond of spending time in his hand crafted boat with trips to Misery Island and fishing. He enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, scouting, coaching with special Olympics and playing the violin.

He lived 42 years in Manchester by the Sea, MA. before moving to Oakham in 2005.

Robert Coles Sibley – 87 passed away on October 1, 2013 peacefully at his home.

He was predeceased by his wife Alys (Collins)Sibley in 1995. He was survived by four daughters Tabitha Tashjian & her husband Thomas of Oakham, with whom he lived, Martha Sibley-Jett & her husband Mitchell of Ashford, CT., Emma Louise Griffen & her husband Stephen of Saratoga Springs, NY. and Sara Sibley of Peabody, MA.; daughter in law Vicki Sibley Fry of TN.; sister in law Edna Sibley of NY.;11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by a son R. Coles Sibley III and a brother Douglas Sibley

The funeral was held at the Oakham Congregational Church. Burial followed in Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville, NY.
