Edward Walmsley was born on August 14, 1902 in Burnley, England. He worked and lived at the Apawamis Club in Rye, where he was employed as a waiter for the club.

Edward married Jane Smith McAffer on April 25, 1942, in Greenwich, Connecticut. They had two children during their marriage and in Rye the family lived at 181 Purchase Street.

Edward enlisted November 20, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge he returned to his family and resumed work at the Apawamis Club.

Edward Walmsley, fifty-four, died July 10, 1957 in St. Mary’s. Hospital in Wolcott, Conn., where he was visiting his sister, Mrs. Joyce Pelletier.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Jane MacArthur McAffer Walmsley; son, Edward Lee Walmsley and a daughter, Stephanie Star Walmsley, all of Rye; three brothers, William of Blackburn, England; Harold of Salamanaca, N.
Y., and Joseph Walmsley of Wallingford, Conn. and one other sister, Mrs. Harry Billington of Pittsburg, Mass.

The funeral was held at the Kelly Funeral Home in Wolcott..
