Richard Walsh was born on April 26th, 1928. While living in Rye, he resided at 375 Oakland Beach Avenue with his father Dennis, his mother Florence, and his sister Patricia. During the Second World War, his father was the head of household working as a construction engineer, and Richard was a student at Rye Resurrection. He is known to have excelled in track and field sports during his youth. He graduated from Rye High School in 1946, and would go on to serve his country in the Korean War. He is mentioned as being a pallbearer in a group returning a serviceman’s remains to the United States during the war.
