Wee Y. Wong

Wee Y. Wong was born in Jacksonville, Florida October 30, 1905. In Rye his families address remains unknown. Before the war he was working as a waiter at a country club in James Island, SC. His enlistment records states at that time he was divorced with dependents.

Wee enlisted October 23, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His draft card gives a Rye forwarding address confirmed by a Rye Chronicle article from November 6,1942.

Cpl. Wee Y. Wong of Port Chester, who during two years’ service overseas took part in the invasions of France and Germany, spoke briefly and reported that the people in some parts of England and the people in Belgium were very good to Negro troops.”

After His honorable discharge he returned to Port Chester, NY. He married Elsie Sherman of Greenwich, CT, she passed away October 15, 1957. He then married Elsie Rudd on October 6, 1962 in Greenwich, CT.

Wee worked for the Empire Brush Company of Port Chester for 24 years until his retirement in 1971.

Wee Y. Wong died December 29, 1981 in Los Angelis, CA
