BIOGRAPHY
Robert L. Copeland
Robert L. Copeland was born in Rye on May 12, 1927, the son of John and Adele Liggins Copeland. He had two brothers John and
George
and in Rye his family lived at
31 Florence Avenue.
Robert was a graduate of Harrison High School, class of 1945. In high school he participated in a variety of sports including football, baseball, basketball and golf.
Robert enlisted and served in the US Army during World War II. He
requested immediate induction
after his high school graduation in June, 1945
After his service, Robert married Yvonne C. Copeland in 1952 in New York City, New York. They had one child during their marriage. He was a member of the White Plains Police Department for 13 years and a member of Harrison Presbyterian Church.
Robert L, Copeland, 40, died June 1, 1967 at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, NY.
At the time of his death, survivors included his mother, his wife, Mrs. Yvonne M. Copeland, a son Robert L. Copeland of Mamaroneck and a brother, George H. Copeland.
Robert is buried at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY
