Earl Leroy Pangborn

Earl L. Pangborn was born in Indianapolis, Indiana March 28, 1921 to to Earl Pangborn and Martha Holland Pangborn. He had one younger sister Martha.

In Rye his family lived at 949 Forest Ave and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Earl was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1940.

He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Earl attended Middlebury College before entering the Navy under the V-5 War Training Program.

Earl Pangborn Gets Navy Wings

Earl L. Pangborn, 22, of 949 Forest Avenue, won his Navy Wings of Gold and was commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve this week following completion of the prescribed flight training course at the Naval Air Training Center, Pensacola, Fla. , the Annapolis of the Air. Prior to entering the Naval service, Ensign Pangborn attended Middlebury College for two years. Having been designated a Naval Aviator, he will go on active duty at one of the Navys air operational training centers before being assigned to a combat zone.

Cook of Providence, R. I., on November 11, 1943 at the Chapel of the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. John D.
Gregory performed the ceremony. A
small reception followed at the home
of the bridegroom’s mother.

Earl received his honorable discharge in January 1946. Per the 1950 census Earl and Louise had three children and were living in Fishkill, NY. Earl was working as a field representative for a Paint Company.
