Robert Terrell James

Robert Terrell James was born on February 5, 1922, in Henrico, Virginia, to Pearl May Adkins, age 30, and Robert James, age 35. He had two brothers and four sisters and in Rye his family lived at 19 Goldwin St.

Robert enlisted April 23,1943 and served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II. He spent 18 months overseas and was honorably discharged January 4, 1946.

He married Ethel Glen Boyd on March 25, 1951, in Rye, New York.

He was a retired self employed carpenter and served with the Port Chester Auxiliary Police from 1957 to 1994.

Robert T. James, Jr., a resident of Port Chester died September 4, 2003. He was 81.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Ethel G. James, two sons Robert T. James, III and Brian K. James all of Port Chester, two daughters Lisa James-Owens of Stratford, CT and Linda Spradley of Daytona Beach, FL. Brother William James of Port Chester and two sisters Hardena Johnson of Stamford, CT and Elsia Green of Fairfield, CT, nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Frances AME Zion Church, Smith St., Port Chester, NY. Interment was at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY.
