Donald T Koerner
Donald T Koerner was born on November 16, 1924 in Rye, NY to Philip and Ella Balls Koerner. He had older sisters Eleanor and Doris and an older brother Philip Koerner. In Rye his family lived at 204 Purchase Street and were members of the Church of The Resurrection. Donald was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1942.
He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the South Pacific.
On February 26, 1949 he married Margaret T. O’Brien in Port Chester, NY. They would have nine children in 15 years. For twenty-eight years Mr. Koerner owned and operated the AM/PM Mini Mart gas station on Division St. in Peekskill.
KOERNER, DONALD T. Donald T. Koerner, a longtime Peekskill resident died on April 29, 2005. He was 80 years old.
At the time of his death survivors along with his wife Margaret of Peekskill, were sons Michael, Paul, Donald, and Joseph Koerner, and daughters Patricia Kurczak, Joanne Green, Peggy Ann Jacob, Ellen Mattioli, and Katherine McKenzie. Seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.

I worked for Atlantic Richfield when Don began his association with AM/PM. He was just the greatest man to work with. His son Don Jr., daughter Kathleen and wife Peg all contributed to the success he experienced as one of ARCO’s best operators. One of my fondest memories was when Don was selected as the AM/PM Franchisee of the Year. He was so humble. I was so proud of him and his family.
We had a lot of laughs together. I’m sorry to learn of his passing. My condolences.
