Murray P. Maxon

Murray P. Maxon was born on May 15, 1925 in Port Chester, NY to Jacob and Mamie Maxon. He had an older brother Ralph and sister lillian. In Rye his family lived at 4 Ellsworth Street. Murray was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943.

He enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning from the war Murray earned his undergraduate degree from New York University.

He married Marilyn Fink on May 6, 1949, in New York City, New York. They had four children during their marriage.

Murray worked in the men’s clothing industry as a sales executive for Joseph H. Cohen and Sons in New York.

Later he became an entrepreneur and was the co-owner of The Clothes Post in Port Chester. He spent the final years of his career with Bloomingdale’s in White Plains. Murray was passionate about golf and played many rounds at local area courses.

Murray lived in Port Chester and the surrounding communities of Rye and Greenwich for most of his life.

Murray P. Maxon of Port Chester, died at age 78 on January 17, 2004 at Jacobi Hospital Medical Center. Murray was pre-deceased earlier that week by his wife Marilyn A. Maxon to whom he was married for 54 years.

He was survived by his children Leslie Salvatore of Greenwich, Roger Maxon of Purchase, Kenneth Maxon of West Bloomfield, MI and Nancy Pinto of Port Chester and eleven grandchildren; Daniel, Michael and Peter Salvatore, Tracy, Allysa, Ashley, Gregory and Melissa Maxon, and Bryan, Jason and Katie Pinto. He was also survived by his brother Ralph Maxon of Port Chester and Lillian Tunick of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the KTI Synagogue at 575 King Street in Port Chester on Monday, January 19, 2004
